TMJ Dysfunction / Cervical Headaches

TMJ disorder is a term used to describe patients who have pain and/or dysfunction at their temporomandibular joint-also known as your jaw.

It can be frustrating and scary when something as simple as eating and talking cause pain. But the TMJ is a complicated joint that can cause a wide variety of symptoms.

While clicking/popping and pain with talking and chewing are the ‘classic’ signs of TMJ dysfunction; other symptoms can be as varied as:

Headache

Painful scalp

Tooth pain

Tooth grinding

Jaw locking

Eye pain

Tinnitus

Sensation of clogged ears (with no ear infection)

Vertigo/dizziness

Sore throat or cough

Difficulty swallowing, or feeling like something is stuck in your throat

The good news is there is hope. We have therapists trained in evaluation and treatment of the TMJ. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan, with everything from manual therapy to stretches and exercises so we can get you back to enjoying life.
